unfortunate for me!!
![]() but its good to know, nothing like a 2.2 pump on a 2.4 that may explain some of the popping and difficulty in tuning!! thanks |

Do a search on MFI pumps. It's not clear that just having a 2.2 on a 2.4 would cause a lot of problems since the adjustment range covers that sort of change, especially at idle and part throttle. Keep in mind that it's not even 10% change in fuel volume being pumped. Are the the throttle shafts tight? If there is any play in them you most likely have air leaks which would be a more likely cause -- and completely non-pump related.
Do you have a copy of "Check - Measure - Adjust"? Have you gone through the adjustments exactly in the order shown?

John is right about the displacement difference not having a huge impact as long as the pump was readjusted for the increased displacement. I have used a 2.0 pump on a 2.2 and a 2.4 pump on a 2.7 with good results. However, because the pump is an"E" pump you should have "E" cams in the motor. Any other cams may make the pump untunable for all RPMs.

actually the engine does have E cams in it! I went one click richer on the part throttle adjustment and it seems to have helped. I also printed a copy of Check Measure & Adjust. is the rev limiter on these in the rotor?? although this car 'seems' to have all E parts it seems to hit the rev limiter at 6500 instead of 7K.
thanks for all of your help fellas Nabil |

one last question for ya fellas, MFI related. the throttle doesn't shut all of the way 99% of the time. so I have this foolish 2500-3500 idle!! I have to go to the back of the car and pull the throttle shut with a gentle tug on the lever, or if I'm at a light I have to keep jabbing the gas hoping it closes... the springs look fin and I've cleaned them, I remove the linkage rods and cleaned and oiled them and I looked for the problem at the pedals but that seems fine too
any hints?? cars been in storage for many years and I'm trying to sort it by autocross season!! p.s. what do out of adjustment valves sound like?? |

Great info on MFI ! I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I 'm a noob to 911's and MFI as well. I have a mystery motor in my 69' 911E. I have found locations (within this site) to determine almost every spec on the motor. The only exception is the MFI pump.
The number on my pump is: 0408 126 014 Any ideas, what pump this is?? There is also a second number on the pump: 3210880A I'm now going to go back to reading about how great my MFI motor is ![]() |
