1966 912 body
Would anyone know if a 1966 912 and a 1970 911 have identical bodies? I might buy a 1966 912 donor car to cut the rear parcel and rear seat sheet metal out to put in a 1970 911. Appreciate any help.

Similar but not identical.
The two biggest differences are the rear fenders and quarter bumpers and the suspension trailing arms. The ‘70 is a Long Wheel Base (LWB) 911 and the ’66 is a Short Wheel Base (SWB) 911/912. There are all sorts of other issues. How much of the ’66 do you need? Best, Grady

its pretty close- you may have to have your metal man fill in some small gaps where they are different. But as long as it is the rear panel and seat area, you won't go wrong

Why cut up a whole '66 for this when you could probably get those parts out of a '71 donor that's already been cut? Seems to me you would be paying for a complete car when all you need is pieces. Also, isn't the stamping pattern different between the SWB and the LWB, my recollection is the SWB has more ridges, like a potato chip.
