Sorry if this is off-topic, but I was just in CompUSA and they have a killer Momo PC wheel/pedal setup with force feedback for $50 after rebate (1/2 price).
This is perfect for NeedForSpeed Porsche (just got this for $11 at GameStop) and has very realistic feel. Here's a link to the product: Momo PC wheel/pedals Guess this will get me thru til my oil line is replaced and the warm weather arrives. Nice exhaust installation by a very well respected shop in St. Louis, hunh? Can't believe the oil line's leaking ![]() ![]() ![]()

yeah, and that's the main return line to the cooler. It leaks directly onto the crossover pipe and smokes/smells wonderfully.
The PO had a used OE exhaust put on to meet emissions one month before I bought the car (7/2004). I've only put about 500 miles on it, since it's been more a project than a driver so far. I've got a call in to the shop, but they haven't returned it. The records clearly show that they put this exhaust on and smashed the oil line. Any opinions on wether the shop should/will fix it. The PO gave me the work orders showing it was done in 6/2004. This is probably the most well-respected high-end/exotic shop in St. Louis, and I'd hate to harm their reputation ![]()

That's not a bad oil line. It's an oil pre-heater. You do live in a cold environment, right??
Sheesh. NFS is a great game, and much, much better with a wheel and pedals than the keyboard. You may also want to get, if you don't already have, Grand Prix Legends. It's much, much harder to drive and master, but the cars are great, and so are the tracks. It's physics is realistic almost to the point of being a simulation. Definitely gotta have a wheel and pedals for that one. If you get it or have it make sure you download all of the updates for it. It's a really old game, so the graphics are marginal, but you can download all new graphics and graphics card support that fixes that. There are track downloads, cars, car sounds, etc...

You are right in that Porsche Unleashed is a great way to enjoy racing virtual Porsche's. I race most evenings with numerous people from all over the world. EA shut down the internet racing servers a while back but with the help of some programming talent from within the PU community a "match making" utility called the IP Lounge was created. It allows us a means to meet up in a virtual lounge and easily create or join existing IP - to - IP
races. It's been a long time since I've seen a fellow Pelicanite racing online, but hopefully more will get the bug for some good cheap and fast racing. Cheers, Dennis

Take it back to the shop so they can fix it by plugging off the line.

Yeah, and it boosts presssure! What a joke. I assume replacing that line will require removing at least the driver side heat exchanger?
I wonder why they replaced the rigid/rubber hybrid line with a full stainless mesh line in the first place? I'm guessing that's more expensive, and my PO was a just an old guy tooling around in a 911. Thanks Steve, I'll look out for Grand Prix Legends. What about NFS? I just got the game and haven't updated/downloaded anything. What's essential?

In regards to info on Porsche Unleashed, have a look at the PU section of the Demolution Crew's website (first link in my signature). It will help you with racing hints, car set-ups, IP racing info and such. After you read a bit, take a look at the Rival Stock Team's Download Page . There are 4 add-on cars made by Electronic Arts (EA) that are part of the game. These are the ones in your garage with the covers over them. You can also find the updated version of the game (version 3.5) which you will need for online racing. The the IP Lounge "match making" utility I mentioned earlier, a cheat detector called Silent Witness and a few other things are available there. The online racers don't tolerate cheats or hacks that improve performance so best to avoid stuff you may see on other websites that boast hacked performance and such. It would be a good idea to finish Evolution mode and Factory Driver mode and then practice a bit before racing online. There are some fast people that most newbies will likely think are cheating. However, they just practice A LOT!
Hope to see you in the lounge, Dennis

I lost a debate once over that being the greatest game ever. It is still the ONLY all Porsche game. If EA would just redo it for Xbox in H.D. 5.1, I would lose my Wife, Job, friends, etc...

Hmmm...guess I should've made two orginal posts.
Oil Line: I talked to the service manager at the shop who did the work. He says if I bring it in tomorrow and it doesn't appear to be the result of an incident that may have forced the pipe up into the line after the installation, they'd "stand by" their work and take care of it. The shop has a great rep here in STL and is interested in keeping it that way. I'll pass along the outcome (positive or negative). On NFS/PU : whoa - I got the force feedback working on the wheel controller last night. That completely rules. I was grinning ear-to-ear and laughing out loud. My wife, of course, thinks I'm nuts. I told her it was like simulator time, and would make me a better driver, so I'll be safer in the real P-car. She wasn't convinced. DC, once I get thru the evolution, I'll be heading to the online races in the lounge. Craig

Craig,
Drive the evolution and the factory driver. The factory driver stuff really helps with car control since there are lots of slaloms and weird AutoX manuevers (sp). Make sure than in Evolution you upgrade the cars. That will be important for online play. Oh, and glad to hear they are willing to standby the work they did for the PO. That's a pretty neat thing.
