Hey Darryl can you point me to more pics of your car? Looks like you've got silver gauge surrounds? I'd like to see how they look up close. (..so to speak).

Cool animation, BTW.

I'm glad you guys like that animation, I have both those ads framed on the garage wall behind the cars and I knew a climb up on the roof to get that picture was coming up next sunny day I had them both out.

Hey Doug, here's a shot of the dash with those brushed aluminum gauge bezels:

I found them from a guy in England who has an eBay store for $60. They are brushed aluminum, not stainless steel or polished. I wanted them to accent the brushed aluminum Momo Prototipo steering wheel. Here's my Porsche's project journal if you want any other shots: http://members.aol.com/darryld/911.htm

Yeah, love the resto notebook. Some nice ideas there. How do you like the performance of the Mach 1 underdash unit? I hate the idea of cutting into doors for speakers, so when I get my next 911 I was thinking of going this route. Sure seems to clean up the interior.

Keep up the great work!

Glad you like it Alexander, playing with pictures keeps my right brain muscle from getting smaller than the left one!

Hey Doug! I love the "Moch-1" unit, especially since I got it cheap on eBay! My car had the speakers in the door when I got it, but the door panels were navy blue and the pockets very warped. I upgraded to black leather RS style door panels and wanted to reproduce the minimalist race look of my 914... less is more kind of thing. That look didn't have speakers in the door anymore. The stereo that came in the car is a 4-channel (35-watt per) Kenwood unit that is good enough over the engine noise. I just found an SC raised rear deck for two more speakers back there. I'm sure the younger sub-woofer generation would think the thing is an "old man" car but my Boston and Pink Floyd CDs sounds pretty dang good already with just the two front speakers!

I gotta say, I find it a big complement to see a nice '80s vintage 911SC done up as a 1974 with the Carrera stripe and ducktail.

Well that's exactly what I'm hoping to do with my next 911. I border on whether or not I would even need music...but I think for longer trips it might be nice to have some tunes. But I'll never be one of those "thumpers" you hear/feel driving down the road. I like the "purist" look...minimalist as you say. I really like the Moch-1 idea, but I've never seen anybody who's tried it. Looks like a good plan then!

Thanks!

Hey Doug! Keep an eye on eBay for a Moch-1, I see them for about $100 about once a month. Retail price for a new one borders on absurd!

Hey Art! I'm in FAT city now! I just unloaded a 4-post service lift (from Autollifters of America) for my shop yesterday! Very soon, my creeper will be hung on the wall for good! You might have noticed that most of the "under car" items on my 911 project list have been postponed for some reason!

Very, very cool.
And good luck with the lift; now I'm envious.

Well, the Autolifter of America M6, 4-post service lift is assembled and running and had its first "customer," my daughter's Ford Escort!

I figured it's the most expendable car in the family fleet and she got an oil change outta the deal! My oil drain can didn't have a real long neck so the lift is about 6" lower than max so the funnel was close to the drain plug.

I unloaded and assembled this monster by myself and have been working on it since Thursday. I think I must have Egyptian pyramid builder in my ancestry.

Now there's a 911 needing an oil change and rear brake caliper rebuild waiting to go on that lift!

Having too much time is like having too much money... a "quality" problem.
