Question *What FINISH for Fikse wheels? See pic of car -

POR 137 paint:

Approx color:

Thinking of Mach 5s rather than Lindsey... :

The question is - what finish?
I want something that does not clear coat pit - and all black is perhaps just too....black. My 911 goes in for a fitment tomorrow -

I like the 10 spoke Cup Car look.....wheels will be 10s & 12s.

Ideas? Full polish? ?

I agree that the Fikse or Kinesis is a better wheel. They will be stronger(probably, JMO) and will certainly have more brake clearance.

My 8" Kinesis have a huge amout of brake clearnce Fikse will be similarly endowed.

Why not have Fikse powder coat the ctrs to suit befor they are built, thats what i did w/ my Kinesis, the powder coat(w/ wax ) makes cleaning a snap

Great idea - one I asked about - except Fikse won't powdercoat any wheel. I'd have to buy them, have them disassembled, and the powdercoated separately form the factory procedure. Poo.....

Other ideas?

All black FM5's would look evil with that green and you would not have to clean them as often. ALL BLACK ANODIZE!!!!!!!!!!

powder paint will actually be tougher than anodize, Kinesis did offer that option as well.

The thing I find most annoying about my wheels is that the polished lips need constant polishing to look good, coloring them might help, but I would be concerned that mounting wheels could mar the finish.

All black would look "the business." Gun metal grey or a similar shade would also look superb. If you want something involving body color, what about painting/powdercoating everything but the very outside lip and the very face of the spokes? I've seen similar paint schemes on rims and it looked super.

You might want to check out the Rennlist/993 /black wheel discussion, there are some interesting pics.

If I went Fikse again, I'd probably go with the Mach V's because they don't have the difficult to clean nooks & crannies created by the inner lip of the FM10s. That's a bit of a lethargic approach, though.

A friend of mine got the Race Satin finish, and the brake dust comes off much easier than on my bare aluminum wheels, after sitting for awhile. The "technopolish" centers that I have are more resilient to brake dust than the bare aluminum rim halves.

As for colored centers, that's a personal choice. I always like a polished rim, regardless of the center.

Paint them Black

Quote:
No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the settin’ sun
My love will laugh with me before the mornin’ comes

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
Hmm, hmm, hmm,...
I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black
