The How do your Fuchs look? thread

I am trying to decide what to do about my rims
I have a 72 with 16's , black centers

I would like to see painted and all the rest of the versions of these rims to help me decided what to do with them.

fave.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1109574903.jpg

strother 02-28-2005 05:02 AM

I like your stock look best.

IROC 02-28-2005 05:20 AM

I agree with strother. I think the black centers accent the black trim on the car very well.

I'm going through the same thought process too.

Here's my recent thread with all the details:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/208545-lotsa-pics-16x7-wheels-longhood.html

Here's some pics of my 1970 with stock finish and with black centers.

I am leaning more towards the black centers now. I think your car looks good with black centers as well.

I was wondering if anyone has done, a silver painted center

jmz 02-28-2005 07:30 AM

7 & 9 X 16. polished paddles & lips

but I think I actually liked the look of 15x7s / 8s with a stock non-polished look better.

TerryH 02-28-2005 07:37 AM

I prefer painted black anodized lip, but that's not what I currently possess.

These polished with black webbing look nice too.

Its all been done before !

(apologies for the non-artistic, cr@ppy background photo)

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1109627453.jpg

I like the siilver centres as it "grows" the wheel. A number of 911 owners have asked if they were 17s. You also get to see all the detail of the Fuchs centre that is hidden with the black centres. Just MHO.

I am however, going to do a second set in faux-RSR next month to see how I like that look.

I really like the all black pedals with polished lips and caps. It looks like a single large lug nut ala racing cars.

Hi Dan. I own the coupe, not that beautiful targa, but someone here owns it. I saved it because it looks great and I was looking for wheel ideas myself. I'm in S. Whittier, La Mirada border.

Joe Bob 02-28-2005 03:16 PM

I change the inset of the Fuchs every six months....white car....and match the side scripts. I alternate Carrera with the earlier PORSCHE....

Every four paint jobs.....I completely strip and polish....averages out to when I need new tires.

Costs (retail) 80 bucks for the side scripts, 10 bucks for the krylon rattle can.

The non car people at the office think I get a different car every time....I just nod and go about my bidness...:p

TomH, I'll drop you a PM. Your car is very nice. Just was a little taken aback by that Targa, whoa. Nice touches, the painted rear bumperettes, etc. Nice

911SCPilot - Very nice, thanks. What color is yourcar? That soft yellow is so period correct. I am really liking the Targa's all of a sudden. Any mod's done to your car?

Joe Bob 02-28-2005 05:34 PM

I believe its Sierra Biege. The cars original color was that Metallic Brown. But, yes, the color on it now, and probably be repainted as, is the correct period color, even year if I remeber correctly. Targa's are beautiful cars. Sure, they dont have those sexy, and true 911 coupe lines, but she makes well up for it with her own lines.

No modes engine wise. Complete top engine build was done around 5000 miles ago.Ive updated quite a bit on the car, like all new hoses from fan to heat ex,blower hose and socket, new 16inch wheels, H4 upgrade, both L/R knee pads+ashtray pad, stereo, front hood shock's,knobs (dash), LED instrument lights, new dash. The back shelf/seats needs one of the seat backs fixed, seats are in new condition, carpet good, targa top in excellent condition, need to replace seals. So aside from a paint job, door tops/pockets, and the suspension upgrade i'm about to dive into, she`s as if she`s new. She's well taken care, and pampered like a queen, but gets driven the way she was born too.

I still want a coupe though, thats the next addition, down the road
