The first step is to deny you have a problem, shirk you other responsibilities and give in to the warm sweet feeling that is the PPBBS!

It's not an addiction until I start shooting it between my toes. Ok I have a problem.

You can judge your addiction by the withdrawl symptoms you suffer from when the BBS is down.

I can quit any time.

OK, no I can't. Yesterday was like a day w/o sunshine. Or rain. I kept trying to open the Pelican forums page on my computer every 5 minutes. I was like a dog tied up outside of a busy Starbucks, getting excited whenever the door opens and then crestfallen when it wasn't my owner. I kept thinking, he'll be back soon! Wayne Dempsey the crime-fighter!

Finally, when I came home in the afternoon after being out for awhile and it was still dead, I started to panic just a little. Maybe something happened to Wayne? Why hasn't he fixed it? Although I have his personal #, I did not want to bother him since I figured that he was up to his ears in microchips and cables furiously trying to remedy some hack-job into our site. So I did the next best thing: I called Noah on the East coast and had him call him and bother him.

Actually, Noah was similarly concerned but told me that he "kept thinking that it would be back on in a minute." Usually when the site goes down it is fixed quickly, unless Wayne is sleeping or something. Turns out that Wayne doesn't quite share our addiction, he had no idea that the site was dead for ~8 hour on a Saturday! This is pretty funny; his response to Noah was something like "It is? OK, gotta go." Five minute later the world was right again, just like it never happened. That guy is more important that the family Doctor to me.

I didn't realise how addicted I was until the site went down the other day...

Cheers!

Looks like I picked the right time to go out to Second Creek Raceways on Saturday. I didn’t notice Pelican was down. There were several other Pelicans there exercising their 911s. I wish everyone would use their real names rather than screen names, I have a hard enough time with names as it is.

Last week here was Pelican joefranz checking out some of the machinery. Here was a nice ’85 Carrera 3.4 having fun yesterday.

Nada.......... I'll edit later.

I think Wayne’s great interface, ability to post images, and willingness to support the Forums have made all this happen. I think it is a good business decision for PP and is great for the Porsche community. It should never go away.

I agree with Steve, perhaps combine Pelican and Rennlist – both would benefit and possibly save either guys from being the “Family Doctor” 24/7/365.25.

Best,
Grady

Grady Clay is right - this board is an excellent business decision. Case in point, I would have dropped my '93 C2 off at a shop and paid an astronomical price for an engine rebuild. Instead, I pulled the 3.6, tore it down, ordered 4 pages of parts and tools from Pelican and am now rebuilding this work of art! Wayne’s book is excellent, but the BBS is what sold me on a DIY rebuild. Thanks for my newest addiction!

Absolutely! And yesterday got me thinking about how much I'd miss it all.

Like, how rdane's car turns out.
And I want to see zeke's ride.
Bell's next project.
Speeder's next car!

etc, etc, etc

I gotta go before the wife catches me!

I think Grady put it well, and to add to that I think part of the addiction is our fondess for the cars, and the bbs's ability to connect with other like minded individuals.
We are here for the stories, the information, the pictures of our beloved P cars, and of course, Mr. G.Q. himself, Jack Olsen .
Wayne is our enabler and is very kind for doing so. Oh yes, make no mistake about it, Wayne is the Pusherman .

Yep! Yesterday's outage was proof of that to me. I had to get a methadone shot... I was raging all day because the site was down!

I started working from home late last year. It takes an amazing amount of self control to get any real work done.

Here are the images I tried to upload earlier.
The "Time Out" seems to have worked.

Last week here was Pelican joefranz checking out some of the machinery.
Here was a nice ’85 Carrera 3.4 having fun yesterday.

ITE is a Regional SCCA class that is loosly refered to as "Improved Touring Everything"
where you can do almost anything.
DH's 914 6.2L is in that class and holds the track record at Second CreeK.

Best,
Grady
