Fantastic, look forward to closing the bar with ya soon... Oh, wait...there is no bar. OK then, we'll put out the campfire together!!! I get first shot...:D Where the heck is Doug Z.??? Edit: Sup, I'll be mighty impressed if you make it (for the first time in four years). I hope your schedule permits it. Book your spot now or risk bunking in the DRAGO COMMUNE. (You have been warned.) |
Jamie,
it's been replaced, but I've left it unpainted...god knows what might happen if I go on a run with you guys again :D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1109823386.jpg |
Drago and Jamie, thanks for the warm welcome!:)
I just enjoyed a couple of brews with Doug Z on the weekend. Unfortunately he just sold the Blue Bomber :( , but "promised" to attend, even on only 2 wheels if necessary....................right Doug? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1109830065.jpg |
I live Portland Oregon want to go so bad really gonna try to fit this in
|
C'mon, Doug. We miss you. We'll call your iron horse a Porsche for purposes of this event, as long as you promise not to clobber us in the twisties. And hey, just so you know, one of this world's features I want to see some day (along with the Southern Cross and the San Fermin Festival) is your Mechanical Mayhem Files.
|
Jeff,
What will happen is you will drive a nice safe late apex line, and back off when the big dogs like Dane start smackin' it down on a wet leaf strewn road! (I know I do.) It all comes with experience. ;) Hope you can make it. I'd be willing to bet you could get a right seat ride if you get yourself as far as SeaTac! |
Being new to the fun of owning a 911 this looks like fun. Some how I don't think I will have the money hungry beast back together buy then. Its still in need of tires and a good valve adjustment, oh and to solve the mystery brake fluid leak. The valves I plan to do later this month. What could one expect to see and do at an event like this?

This is the 4th year of the Round-Up. It's a Canadian-American event that was started by Doug Zeilke up in B.C. in 2002, continuing in '03 down here in WA (hosted by yours truly) , '04 back up in the interior of BC (Doug Z. again) and now here in '05 (by commitee).
On your way to and from the Round-Up and on any personal side trips you can expect to drive some of the very best twisty mountain roads in the state. You can expect to see some of the best scenery the state has to offer. You can expect to be fed fantastic meals (see website link in Dane's initial post). You can expect that Saturday night will be a great party (has been every year thusfar). http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...s/beerchug.gif You can expect to meet a lot of very cool  , laid back people. You can expect to smile a lot. :D You can expect to take home some goodies/toys. You can expect that if you attend this year you'll likely sign up for '06 too. |
Well then I'll do my best to get my act together and see if I can make it. If not this year then for sure next!

Just put my check in the mail and filled out the registration when I saw all the fun stuff I just had to go.

|
My steed is going into JW's for a shake down next week.
Anything that needs attention shall have it. Now, has Scooter signed up yet...what with all this talk of an un-veiling coming at the next XXX get together??? |
rdane and anyone else: I was waiting for some comments on safety, and pack-mentality, rdane's Quote:
You don't want to miss the full weekend of events for any reason...so bleeding or bent cars are not an option Anytime a group of car enthusiasts get together there is typically a pack mentaility that occurs. Don't fall into that trap. Drive in a manner and at a speed you are comfortable with. Don't let the pack push you, your skills or your car! I'd like to ad to this: If you do spin around in a curve, do not stand there, keep going if you can, because others are coming up behind you! If you have to stop in a blind corner, get out and walk back to slow down other drivers. And: Don't follow to close behind someone with a radar detector, when the music starts, there is some heavy breaking! On a certain vehicle following close behind me, last year, there was no lining on the front brake pads as it turned out. So, safety, common sense, and driving within your limits is highly recommended, especially since the roads that rdane picks have a lot of bumps and are better suited for an old F150. As usual, I am looking forward to the event, a great thank you to rdane and whoever else organized this. rdane: I really liked your car and think that it should have been left it in it's unique state. However, maybe with the new set-up, you might be able to beat that 944 turbo? |
Good advice Gunter. I hope all drivers in this and other similar runs will take this type of advice to heart.
As for the 944 Turbo (i.e., 951), I don't think it will be much of an issue this year; see http://forums.pelicanparts.com/pacific-northwest-us-wa-id-ut-hi-ak/205456-end-era.html |
Rdane Iam in for sure !!!!!

Where's Leeland?
|
The SCWDP Round-Up is dead.
The SCWDP leader sold his SC (twice!) and bought a 993. The host of the 1st and 3rd Round-Ups has sold his SC...no word on a replacement. No...the Round-Up is now an unofficial No-Gruppe event, therefore it doesn't exist...or does it? |
Of course, Leeland is still welcome to attend with anything but a Lexus
|
Of course...Doug too. Doug? You out there?
