Gemballa CGT - 1000hp twin turbo beast?

I don't think this has been posted before, so here goes.

Gemballa tuned Carerra GT. Same engine, twin turbos, 6 speed seq. box, 250mph top speed, massive tires, and.... a roof??? only part i really don't like is the gullwing doors. http://www.dupontregistry.com/dprvm/vmZoom.asp?zoomurl=/vmimg/autos/Apr2005/hi/AutoApr2005-042.jpg&sessionkey only 1.5 million euros!! (about 2 million USD, yes?) -Ian |

			Damn!

Where's my checkbook. Actually, I bet the original is more fun in the real world, but the other would be something to have for sure.

Only part I don't like is they took a beautiful, classy looking car and made it look like the garbage you see at Hot Import Nights.

Basically it's awesome minus everything Gemballa put on it.

That's way overkill for a street car. If they stripped out all the conforts, and added all the appropriate safety equipment that would be a great race car.

Oh i agree, it's complete overkill...no way you're going to buy one of these and actually use it, i bet it'll just sit in the garage/museum etc. However, i do like the shape....sorta resembles a GT1 in that respect. Hate the interior though, waaaay to busy for this type of car.

The roof makes it look nicer. Keep the rest, just give the car a proper roof line.

I don't know what picture you are looking at Amir. I think it looks great. It borrows alot from the GT1 cars, but that's fine by me. Ian, I don't know how else they're going to open doors with that body shape. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Gemballa seems to have come up with a really tasteful modification here.

I don't care what anybody says. That thing is the BALLS. I plan to spend the next few years dreaming about every inch of that beauty and thank Gemballa for "fixing" the CGT. Shame on Porsche for not getting it right the first time. That thing is now officially my Ultimate Dream Car.

Jamie, good point on the doors. Now that i look at it more, it definitely makes sense from a practical standpoint. Just never thought "Porsche" and "gull-wing doors" would be in the same sentence

Why not?.....906 had gull-wing doors, and most plastic prototypes of the era had "semi" gullwing that folded up/forward anyway.......

Wil PS- I never did like the look of the stock CGT from a side elevation view. Back end looks like a pick-up truck bed added to a sports car front. Top rear surface is too flat and could use "sail-wings".. a la 917.

Considering the source, and that it is in print, that is a very mediocre (read: obvious) photo-chop job. Looks like an interesting concept though.

Apply the same styling cues to the Boxster and twin turbo the motor to 600+hp...sell for less than $100k... I'd buy one. Gemballa? Are you listening?
