Factory air conditioning question
What year did the factory start installing the conventional 911 AC system with the 2 condensors(one in the nose and one in the tail), and through the dash vent systems?

So it looks like factory air was first offered in 1969, and the front sheet metal condenser mod started in 1971?
As I understand it, dealer-installed air was more common the whole time, since import duties made it cheaper in many years to ship the AC parts and the car separately and then put together a dealer-installed version in the U.S.

Good point. I always wondered why imports had dealer AC.

Not to mention the fact that most of the dealer installed A/C kits were from American companies using US made components, like the Coolaire (from Florida) in my 911 and the FrigiKing (from California) in my BMW 2002. |
