Show me your suspension pics!
I am about to dive in and (finally) redo my tired, old suspension, and I am thinking that "while I'm there", I might as well do all the replating, repainting and such that goes into doing a good job.
So, what parts should be replated, which should be powder coated, what colors are proper, and what are the better resources in the NE area for getting the work done? Let's see some cool suspensions! (The loose plan at this point is the polybronze front end parts, turbo tie rods, the whole WEVO SPS system in the rear, new (used) alum trailing arms in the rear, Bilstein sports (?) and the jury is out on sway bars)

I'm not positive what is included in the WEVO system, but if you use it, I don't think you'll have much/any plating to do?
But assuming you did need plating, in general the spring plates and associated hardware are cadmium plated. But it is cheaper, easier, and more environmentally friendly to get "yellow zinc" plating. Search "yellow zinc" or "cad plating" and you'll get lots of threads. Here is one that shows various Pelicans' plated suspensions: How to get the LOOK of cad plating Here are my pieces straight back from the plater: ![]() The trailing arms are unfinished aluminium. The front A-arms and tow hooks are usually painted black. However, after re-painting mine and seeing how it has held up, I would investigate powder coating. Or maybe plating - I'm not sure why no one plates the A-arms, it would look great and be durable. Maybe because it's a pain to completely strip off the old paint. The bolts can be plated with your spring plate stuff. Don't forget to consider monoballs.

Good stuff guys.
yes the WEVO stuff will be all set up and ready to go, asuming I can get any! ![]() I was thinking the aluminum arms in the back could be powder coated in clear. Have the ones pictured been polished or prepped in any way? Plating the front a arms? intersting. i had thougth powdercoating would be the way on those, but plating could be cool. If I were to powder coat, is black the color of choice for those? I see strut tubes painted, mostly green. Is that due to the Bilstein contents or????

My personal and solely aesthetic preference would be to have the a-arms match the spring plates or the trailing arm. So on my car, with the spring plates plated yelloiw zinc, I think similarly plated a-arms would be cool, assuming there's nothing wrong with plating them. But if I had the rear suspension that beepbeep showed (I wish) then I'd probably have my a-arms match the black of the spring plates. All subjective of course.
I think green struts mean Bilstein, black mean Boge, traditionally. Of course, Bilstein Sports are yellow, so that kind of blows the color-matching.
