Master cylinder switch hookup?

Tried a search and ran out of patience. Sorry.

Here's the deal. The new M/C comes with one spade connector on the warning light switch, whereas the old had two. This was discussed on the 914 board with respect to upgrading to the 19 mm M/C and it was said to use the hot side of the loop on the M/C and ground the other side. This is not working on the 911.

I can't get my warning light to stop blinking no matter what I do unless I leave it off alltogether. Some assistance?

Milt,

On some cars you need to disconnect the battery for five minutes ... on others there is a plunger on the brake system warning switch that needs to be reset.

Seems that the '74 or '75 and later single-pole style switch is what is supplied now on all of the replacement Ate master cylinders without boost ... that is what my spare has on it, while my car came with the two-pole switch. It sounds like you have your switch wired correctly.

This plunger, that would be the device covered by a little rubber dohickey in the center of the switch and next to the single spade? I'll go fool around with that and see what it does.

Talk about obscure information. Without this board and Warren, what the hell would you do? I mean, how many blokes even know this stuff? I live in a city with nearly half a million other people and one Porsche dealer and I'll bet I'm the only one here that knows the answer to this little problem. Thanks, Warren and Pelican.

No, I take that back about Pelican. They sold me the M/C and didn't tell me about this little issue. (Just kidding).

Zeke: Just went thru this with Pelican too. You can get the proper switch for $16.

I have run into the same problem as Zeke. Is the solution to use only one of the two spade connectors from the wiring harness on the brake warning switch and ground the other? Or is the solution to get a different brake warning switch that has the two connectors?
