Smile 2005 Winter Projects update

Hi Guys,

If you don't remember my car, here's a link to refresh your memory.
DUDES!! My Winter projects are DONE!! WOOHOO!!

I thot I'd update on what's new for my toy...
This year, it is fully suspension and brakes!!!
So I got the car all jacked up and have removed the gas tank and the full front suspension.

Kid #3 couldn't resist climbing in the hole.

The plan is to drill through the body, weld a support plate inside and install a custom made 22mm sway bar through the body in the front and change the front torsion bars to 22mm. Also replacing the front Bilstien struts with Boge and installing Koni Gas shocks. Below is a pic of where the "through body" swaybar will be installed. The outline of where to drill and mount is already pressed. I'm not sure why Porsche stopped using this and chose the underbody one you can see on my suspension rack above.

The parts are slowly coming in;
I have the front and rear Koni's, and my new powerslot roters. Gone are my old KYB's in the back.

I'm not too sure yet what I'm going to do for calipers. I am strongly considering BMW 4 pot calipers from a 735il. It appears these suckers just bolt right on. I've also been shown 944 4 pot calipers which are pretty and all (black nice prosche logo on them) but will not fit unless I machine the mount holes about 1/16th (not very confident at wanting to mess with this).

Rear torsion bar will increase to 28mm and I am thinking about polygraphite bushings. Also I'm planning on a custom made rear 24mm sway bar. Anyone have any reccomendation on bushing for the sway bars and such?

Kid #1 was jealous that kid #3 got is pic on the net. So here he is....

Before I took the front apart, I had developed a knocking whenever I went over a bump and would get tire rub. I guess I now know why....Bad Bilstien Bad.....The driver's side shock was doing nothing.

I'll keep you all posted on the progress. It should be all finished by the beginning of April, can't wait!! The weather up here in BC has been just awesome the past few weeks! I've had the serious itch!!

Take care,

.Steven
