Flywheel Seal Help!
I bought a flywheel seal (from another vendor ) and I'm not sure I got the right one.
I removed a reddish one with the following markings: Kaco D6 90 1110 12101 and installed a black one with the following: Kaco FPM DFS 90 110 12LTF08 Porsche 999.118.426.41 The new one didn't seem to be the exact shape as the old one and additionally, I couldn't insert it flush with the case as JW recommends. I pushed it in as far as I could without really wailing on it. Thoughts? (Do I just need to hit it harder?)

I tap them in using a hammer and a small wooden block. They should tap in flush with the case.
The part number should be 999.113.426.41 I think you mistyped the number AFJuvat

I checked and I did mistype the number. I just went out and tried the wood block. That appears to be the ticket. Thanks!

For the record, I have either installed this wrong, or used the wrong part. It's leaking pretty bad.
Looks like I will be doing it again.

VaSteve. If thats a photo of your install , then part of the problem is the cleanliness of the flywheel area. It needs to be very clean. The machined groove around the seal should be clean of grease and oil. Use a solvent, such as brake cleaner. The lip of the seal should be lubed with oil or assembly lube and the grooved outter portion should be installed dry or with blue or green thread locker. Anyhow thats been my experience with flywheel seals. Hope this helps.Dan

VaSteve. I'm pretty sure he made the mistake of putting assembly lube on the outter surface of the seal. The part that seals against the case. The assembly lube allowed it to poop out under oil system pressure. Dan
