Wink How do you know if you're flaming?

"Not that there's anything wrong with it" - Seinfeld

Seriously...Other than having someone drive behind you, how do you know when you're shooting flames? Does it happen on decel only? Between shifts only? It it followed by a popping sound? Can plugging the decel valve cause popping/flames?

I did spend an hour searching...I came accross one reply that unplugging the decel does cause flames, but wanted others opinion.

Reason why I ask is I have a high idle after warm up and trying to determine if it's the decel valve or AAR.

Thanks.
