starter spinning wrong way

Actually, this is for a 79 HD, but it should apply to the 911.

I incorrectly re-wired the starter and now it spins wrong. What will make it spin right? Do I just move the brushes?

The two positive brushes are top and bottom and the two negative brushes are left side and right side.

Will putting the two positive burshes one the left side and right side and the negative brushes on the top and bottom change the rotation of the starter?

In other words, change the + and - brushes like so:

: +
:- -
: +

to

: -
:+ +
: -

Will this change the rotation of the starter?

H-D starter

Not sure if this applies as it did on my old 52 H-D K model, but every time I disconnected the generator, I had to polarize it to get it to charge instead of discharge.
