Firm grip of winter

Scientists are warning us of global heating and that we generally are supposed to be heading for warmer winters.

What a load of crap!

Havn´t been this cold in Sweden since Gustaf Wasa. Breaking all kinds of temperature records all over the country. Even here in the south we are still plagued with snow and freezzzing temperatures.

I bet it´s because I got my first Porsche last November...

Do you have the same situation over there in the big country in the west ?

I HATE IT

Normal temps for me in Massachusetts would be 42F for this time of year. Last night we had six inches of snow, 50mph winds and a low of 3F. Supposed to get to a high in the 20's, but the wind chill will still make it below zero. More snow supposed to in over the weekend.

I'm right next to Mass and I can tell you that I'm ready for some nice 42 degree weather.
Every time it snows I'm up @ 4am to shovel/ plow and ice melt a very large industrial building and grounds.

Best part is getting on my lawn tractor @ 4:300am to plow my driveway before I head to work.
Sweeeet!

Yes, this is the winter from hell! It's going to be July till they get all of the salt and gravel off of the roads.

It's just crap. -6 C. I want to start spring projects in an unheated garage in 2 weeks. Yeah . . . right.

I'm in the blue area - of course.

We're having a cold snap as well; it's been getting down to 80F mid-day here.

We had the warmest winter I remember in years. Just a trace of snow one day. Most days in the 40's and a bunch of days in February in the 50's-60's

Kurt,

Same here. We have had wonderful track weather all winter – 65F today, shorts and short sleeves. I’ll see if I can go out to the track.

The downside is we need the moisture. A nice 36” blizzard would be great.

Best,
Grady

Supposed to be 80f most of this week here in Arizona. 5 miles north of us we have had 11 inches of rain this year alone, so this is not a "normal" year but sure wish we have more of it.

Like Grady in Colorado, we need rain and will take it anytime or form we can get it!

Tim,

Flew my Aeronca last weekend but the only white stuff was in my glass after I landed! Good to see you in the air!

The only time I get the above pictured MiniMax out is in the winter anymore. I have a heat tube plumbed in and I built the skiis out of old water skiis. In the cold air and a 15-20mph breeze you would be amazed at how quick it is off the snow and flying (taxing down wind is a little hairy in high winds, no brakes, control reversal)! I joke with people that it is my helicopter as I go out and land basically in or near peoples back yards. I have shocked quite a few aviation friends by walking up thru a snow drift to their back decks and pounding on the glass with my plane sitting in their backyard!

I live in farm country so one can land just about anywhere as long as there is snowcover. I always say if it is not 70 degrees out, pray for snow!

Tim ,

You sure know how to drum up repair work !!

I miss the snow, moved from Bingo, NY to Raleigh, NC for work and after I moved Bingo has had great snow for winter sports. Snow like Bingo has not seen since the late 70's.

If I moved back there they would be back to no snow just ice.

I know I know every one hates snow.

Actually snow sucks in Raleigh as the don't know how to deal with it.
And probably when I head back to Bingo for Easter I will get stuck in a Nor Easter.

And to get back on track to keep Wayne happy , I use to drive my 912 in the winter. Handled pretty good.

Ahhhh- Maryland. It gets cold sometimes, but not too cold. Nor too hot. I get to use the car quite a bit in the winter. Plus we don't have rolling blackouts, mudslides, forest fires, or (many) hurricanes. And the emissions testing is not too tough.

Yes, it's pretty good here. Come to think of it, you should all relocate.

Hi Ian,

www.harborfreight.com has these for about $199.00 (includes shipping I think). Size is 16' 9" X 10' and is called the "medium portable garage". I added lighting and a plywood floor and it has held up very well through all types of weather. Good size for storage but kind of tight for working in there. Keeps the rain out, but not the critters.
Waiting for spring is getting painful!

Steve

Hey Dean, what weather...holy crap it was nasty up here tuesday night and they are saying it's coming again.

I'm not sure about global warming...but, I think we been f**king with mother nature too long. She is going to pay us back now. It's nuts my in laws live in NV. I mean in the desert and they are watching flowers grow that have not been out in twenty years. He may have to mow a lawn if keeps up like this.
