HOLY CRAP!
Thanks to this thread and the mention of the ebay ad showing the factory wheel @399 with a buy it now auction made me get on ebay and check the seller to see if he had another FACTORY 930S steering wheel. He did. I bought it. I watched one go for over $600 on ebay a few weeks ago. I think $399 is a steal for a factory S wheel. (I have found the repro wheels to be about 1/3 the quality of the factory wheel) E-man930 |
There are 2 more left by the same seller if anyone wants them...
$399... Let's see how long they will last... E-man930 |
Interesting that this should crop up again. I have the so called factory 930S wheel and love it, but.....
I was talking to a fella that has a real, bought new 930S and do you know what wheel his car came w/? The same 4 spoker as all the other Carrera and 930s of that year. |
Yes,
This is correct. The factory 930S wheel is offered as an option on many of Porsche's models. It cam standard in clubsport trim cars. 964/968 People somehow started to think they came on every 930S... E-man930 |
Bill is correct. I have a stock 1989 930 Slantnose and the picture below, although from not my car, shows the steering wheel that is on it. The '89's had the crest on the right of the horn pad without the PORSCHE name embossed. The earlier cars and the Carrera's of 1989 had the normal horn pad with the PORSCHE name embossed.

The factory 3 spoke wheel is not a 930S wheel.
The one in your picture is. I think AJ USA started calling replica club sport wheels "930S" wheels and here we are now... E-man930 |
Ken,
Do you know the diameter of the 930 steering wheel? My mechanic said its pretty small and that you'd be cranking the hell out of that wheel just to make a U-turn. I upgraded mine with a Momo- Millenieum(sp) 350mm (13.8 inches) diameter. Fits perfectly. Besides the 930 steering wheels are overpriced only because it has the Porsche crest. |
Not sure which wheel you are talking about. The factory Club Sport steering wheel is 350MM as well...

I've had both wheels and have found these differences between the oem and Genuine Porsche 930S wheel:
- the Porsche 930S wheel is a tad thicker in the padding and the one piece leather does have a higher quality feeling. - the horn pad is embossed with the porsche emblem. - the oem wheel comes standard with the 1/2" extension/ spacer. - the color is not a true black, more of a graphite color. - with a little research this wheel cost a few dollars more than the oem wheel. sc- |
