footwell blower squirrel cage on AC condeser motor shaft
I just put a old footwell blower motor cage, the plastic one, on a new bosch front AC condenser blower motor. seems to work well. But I wonder about volume compared to the metal squirrel cage of the original AC blower. It's just a bit smaller in diameter only, width is about the same. Fit's well in a spare housing I have. I was going to epoxy it on justto be sure. Shaft diameter is the same.
anybody got anything about volume? Last edited by jbrinkley; 08-25-2005 at 07:41 AM.. |

Not that this really addresses your question but I think you may be ok since I get better cooling on my 88 with the fan at the #2 setting vs. 3. It actually warms up 5-7 degrees when I boost the fan speed. It seems the evaporator is a definite weak point since it does not seem able to remove heat very effectively with the higher air volume/speed. Makes me think an improved evaporator would be a good addition.
BTW, I was born in Lafayette...dad was in the "oil bidness" down there and has great memories of the Petroleum Club back in the day.

oil bidness, 401K, and $80 a barrel go well together
I believe you're speaking of the evap blower,(in the smuggler's box) I'm talking about the front condenser blower by the battery. |

Sorry, wasn't paying enough attention. I really don't know how much impact that front fan makes...I'm sure it helps but it is still really a marginal system at best and that's one of the weaker points. I'd really like to see a substantial upgrade to the condensor itself...in addition to say, an underbelly condensor.
