Radiator style cooler, but not Carrera?
I've been looking around to buy some desperately needed oil lines and a cooler for my 74. I talked to someone who said they had a radiator style cooler they could sell me, which was not a Carrera. It wasn't a trombone or a 28-tube brass either. He claimed it was used on the 76ish year cars, but I've never heard of this before. Also, it is supposedly more diamond in shape than the 80's Carrera cooler. Does anyone know exactly what this is? Pictures?
I figured I could get by with a trombone on the 74, but an inexpensive radiator style cooler is obviously the better alternative. |

I don't think I even need a cooler, a trombone should be fine for my stock 2.7 that only gets driven spirited occasionally on the streets. I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of this radiator style cooler that wasn't the Carrera cooler. I've never read or seen one. Anyone?

From my limited experience the early cars, yours included only ever had the trombone cooler. From the trombone, they upgraded to the 28 tube brass cooler then the finned carrera cooler. I could be wrong.
If I was you, I would not install anyting other than the trombone or carrera cooler. I had a non genuine finned cooler that cracked because of the way it had to be mounted. The 28 tube brass cooler works fine unless you track the car.
