what the heck was that?
are they trying to blow the motor? were there any fans on the radiator to cool that beast of an engine??? those engines can barely idle for more then a couple minutes without airflow...

insane...components packed that tight to those glowing headers...
looked like an old arrows...insane...their ears were probably ringing for days after that

awesome

That is definately an old arrows car, Tom Walkinshaw is quite a character. Almost all modern F1 motors spin up to about 19K with the exception being the Renault with the wide 72 degree v angle. Most likely just warming the motor up, not much power if any below 10K, in the mid 90's a motor at around 12K was just warming up the oil. All of this crazy motor nonsense thanks to pneumatic valvetrains.

How would you like a 3.0 weighing roughly 300 pounds with pretty much all ancilliaries putting out around 950hp. Last year it was rumored Honda and Toyota were making around 1000hp.

As far as I know, those super-thin iconel headers are always glowing on F1-cars and turn translucent at higher power levels.

What you are looking at looks like transmission check, where they run trough all gears. (it goes pretty quick so they are definately not using 915 )

Eric, you just got so excited you couldn't contain yourself, huh?

I wonder if I could shoehorn that into the miata?? I'd be willing to run the exhaust through the hood.

There was a video floating around a few years ago of the Renault F1 engine on the dyno. The engineers thought it would be fun to get the engine to play a song using the exhaust note. If I remember, the song they played was When the Saints go marching. I will try to find the video.

Here is an article I found:

On a slightly bizarre end-note, Asiatech engineers last year managed to make an F1 engine 'play' When The Saints Go Marching In. Calculating the V10 revs needed to hit a particular musical note -- for example, you need 5,280 rpm to get an A -- the engineers programmed the engine to run the correct sequence of rev/note ranges, producing an amazing rendition of the tune. Perhaps marching bands at races could be replaced by the cars oompahing their way to the grid.

that would probably be the most expensive way , to have them tunes played

i mean , after how many minutes of play would it need a rebuild? and how many engines would you need to replace a band? also , how would you replace the big drums? by making them backfire ? or just blowing a gasket?? pricey ... but fun

yeah , it made the news here

students, the driver was sort of doing some work for the owner of the cars, some reelestate mogul ( to dutch standards at least) ... and he allowed the snotnoze kids to take them cars out for a spin ...

life ain't fair... people that have a car like that.. and be so careless. common , we're talking snotnoze students here... they probably can't even afford a single maintenance by the dealer themselves , let along pay for the damage if they crash it ( i'm sure an insurance broker will have plenty of reason to not pay , if it turns out the car was doing 290 on a public road, and they were taping it and stuff like that.. you know insurance folks ... they find a way if there is one )

personally , i wouldn't let kids like this near my cars without supervision
having them drive , would be out of the question

290 km/h on a public road... it only takes a sneeze and somebody in front of you not paying attention or they'de all be toast...

luckely they were at least smart enough , to stick to a straight line
they were making comments like , the enzo felt less good handling wise... because it only had RWD and the Lambo was waaay better since it had AWD... duh..
