Smile Dream date in the 911...she drove my baby!

wow...have you ever had the best 'first date' in your life? not only was she the most beautiful girl, sweet and a non-materialistic angel...but she's the first girl ever interested in trying to drive my car! we'd met online and have been visiting by phone for over a month before meeting yesterday (she's 36 and i'm 39). i was actually a little nervous about meeting, as i'd been in a long term relationship so long, i wasn't too sure about today's dating climate. she's a tennis pro, 5'7" and 125 lbs (solid)..

anyway, i digress...so, i met her at a barnes and nobles bookstore and drove her to a park where we played on swings and teeter-totters with 'other kids'. she mentioned she might like to try to drive the car, so we walked back to it. i adjusted the seat for her, got her buckled in (wasted a little time trying to explain the 915 idiosyncracies..they always have to grind first to understand..lol) i didn't bother for a seatbelt, as i expected her to stay in first gear and troll the parking lot. nope! she ripped it around 180 degrees and headed for the curvy highway. as i was pinned into the back of the seat, desperately grabbing for my seatbelt (and keeping my left hand resting on the parking brake) i couldn't help but think 'life is good' as she proceeded to carve up miles of badass road with my baby..

wrapped up with dinner at a japanese steakhouse and a st. pat's day party at a small jazz club playing celtic music..luck of the irish?any other great first 911 dates out there? a wise man once said 'it's all good..'

Reminds me of my wife. Our first date she picked me at my house and she was driving a C4 cab. I fell head over heels right there.

working you

Sounds like she's working you for a kill. Give me her number and I'll get together with her and straighten her out about preying on poor lonely souls!

pics? what was i thinking?! i don't have one of us together, but i'll attach a pic of my mug, hers and a 'correct, stock, all-original, pampered, babied mid-year (yes..mid-year guys have fun too) '74 car..my baby

btw, it's a riot..i directed her to swing past my brother's house..knew he'd get a shock seeing a gal driving my car. as we pulled up in front of his house, he was standing in the doorway and got to watch as she got too close to his wife's tahoe, slightly rolling into the front of it as she tried to get into reverse and back away (no damage)..but what a look she gave me when she did it..yikes! harhar...daily drivers have more fun anyway!

so..do i keep letting her drive her?? i think she was about to get the hang of the 'one mississippi' 1-2 shift..

You need to bring her to an AX - will be a memorable experience for her, you'll really stand out from other dates.

But make sure you dress her in a full-face helmet, Nomex balaclava, earplugs, and too-large driving suit, or some other Pelican will try to hit on her.

I wouldn't say she's a keeper (sold my 74 silver non sun roof coupe) for a 82 SC Targa.

OH you're talking about the girl.

Haven't been on a date in ten years don't know what to think.

Just trying to get through the night with a 7 months old baby.

Congrats on your great date.

For me, a grate 911 date is getting away from the "woman" in my life and carving the canyons alone with my Depesh Mode CD.

It's very romantic.

(side note: I'm married)

Mid year cars rock!!!

As for the girl, the advice I was given once is appropriate for any dating experience. Now matter how beautiful, wonderful, or spectacular the girl may be...Someone, somewhere is tired of her s***. hahaha.

Your date sounds awesome, I've been married to my wife for almost 3 years now, had my car for 4 and she won't drive it. I don't know if that is a good thing or not. Seriously she is afraid she might screw something up because she is not that good at driving a manual. I told I didn't mind if she broke it, as long as she fixed it.

I like the AX suggestion, you know nobody else has probably done that. And besides if you do stay together that means you may get to put another pcar in the stable.

Good Luck

My wife drove stick for many years and is scared to death of the 911.
GOOD!
On the other hand she throws the S600 around like a rag doll, and cuts through the smallest spaces. I am undecided if its talent or just an overwhelming sense of security the car gives you.

congratulations on making a great combination (good looking couple and car!). My wife likes to drive a 911 but only if it has a tiptronic trans.
