Will 16" Boxter Wheels fit my 78 SC Targa

Been looking at a set of 16X6 and 16X7 Boxter wheels to possibly purcahse. The off set is 50 MM for 6 X 16 front and 40 for the 7 X 16 rear.

My offset is 36 mm for the 6 X 16 front and 23 mm for the 7 X 16 rear. Will these fit my 78 SC Targa?

I don't think there were any 6 inch wheels for a Boxster. I could be wrong. In any case, you will need some bodacious spacers.

Yes, the Boxter wheels will fit into a SC. I think the wheels are 6 x 16 and 7 x 16. This is not the best photo, but you can see a Boxter wheels into my brothers SC.

Boxster wheels:6 and 7 inch widths et50 et40
205/55R16
225/50R16
You need a 14mm spacer front and 17mm rear.

Steve:
The bolt pattern of those wheels will fit, but you'll need to space them for inside clearance.
Depending on tires, the rears will be half an inch or less (225x50 tire) from the inside of the wheel well. Could interfere with the oil lines. It's also going to be close call on the alignment bolts. You may have to trim the bolts a bit.

The fronts will also need spacers, I think about an inch.
In both cases ( front and rear), you'll need longer studs to accomodate the spacers. You could use the bolt-on adapters and avoid changing studs, but those are frowned upon by most groups for track use.

Others have done this, especially on earlier narrow body cars, and may be able to help with more specific spacer dimensions.
I fairly sure that the inner clearance issues would be the same.

Good Luck
Joe

Better pic of this type of Boxster wheel:

Nitrometano, Joe,

Those are the wheels I am talking about. I like the looks of them that's why I am interested in purchasing them.

Thanks for the info.

I did a bit of calculating and here is what I came up with - The rear offset is about a 5/8" more and the front offset about 9/16 more then the tires I have on. What this means is that the tires will extend towards the center of the car by that much.

I will have to look at the clearence on the wheels that are on there now to see if I have that much room to allow them to come inward.

Thanks for all your help.

They fit, and a spacer is needed in the front to avoid rubbing at turning extremes.

Here is the look on an early car. I use them as track wheels, and yes, I realize this wasn't a track!
