Replace bolts w/ cv boot?

I'm going to replace my cv boots soon.
Is it necessary to replace all the bolts around the cv joints?
I think they are about 6 per joint.

Thanks.............KC

Why not? Many threads here on the details. The 12-point wrenching type tend to get buggered when you take them out, and the 6-point don't look much better. Be sure to clean out the internal wrenching feature with some brake cleaner before you put the tool in, and wear some safety goggles when you shoot that stuff around.

you don't have to if the bolts are still good

you don't say what year you have, (put it in your signature), but the ones with the thick flange, like on SCs and early carreras are not available any more and have been superceeded by thin flange units that require a 45mm bolt instead of the original 50mm ones. they also now require the bolt plates and schnorr washers. if you use the 50mm bolts on them, they will bind the outer flange against the trailing arm.
