Unhappy My poor baby...

Hey everyone,

There's not much worse you can find in your oil than a nice big chunk of metal... The new Mobil 1 oils are out so I decided to change my oil, it's not due for another 1,500 miles, but I was doing a track tech on it anyway, so...
The oil that drained out looked great, but the crankcase drainplug had a nice little chunk of metal on the magnet, not huge, but big enough to worry me. This has me kind of terrified, especially since we don't know what it's from, it's not part of a ring, it doesn't look like it was associated with an over-rev on the track or something, it's just weird... I wouldn't be so concerned if I hadn't just had a horrible time trying to put a mass flow sensor on the car and knew that it was running very very lean for about an hour total of testing.
I'd like to think maybe I dropped it before reinstalling it last time or something, but I don't know... anyway, just thought I'd post my woes... lol, thanks for listening.

I may try to post a pic tomorrow, I kind of hope no one would recognize it right off the bat just becuase I'd like to think we would look at something like that and would recognize it if it was something important, especially my boss who imho is one of the best 911 engine builders, lol, so I probably should feel better that he told me not to worry about it, but I think part of that is that there's not much to be done about it, especially while the engine seems to be running amazingly well.

it really was kind of weird though, there was absolutely no other metal on the drain plug, no fine pieces which you could expect to see some of those and not really worry, and no other coarse pieces, just that one piece of metal. Oh well... worrying never helps
