930 heater duct backdate update
After 3 weeks or non-stop work, I was finally able to get two usable halves. The outer was relatively easy; I've been able to make those for a week or so now. It was the inner half, with the mounting flange, that was a royal PITA. I thought I was there yesterday, but the damn thing stuck, so I dremelled the mold in half along the flange line, drilled some holes to both the halves together, sanded everything down and tried again - success! I still need to do some touchup, as both sides have some tight spots which squeeze all of the resin out when I clamp them together. I also need to work on my dremel skills to cut down on the trim time. I can probably crank them out one per day once I get the process ironed out.
I did this one in carbon fiber just because. It's only 1 layer of carbon and one layer of 1.5oz mat, so it's pretty thin, but wow is it light! And I haven't even finished trimming it yet! I should have price and availability info by this weekend.

Somehow i knew that they would be CF.
btw, be careful trimming the CF . . . makes nasty little slivers.

They'll be available in CF or fiberglass. I have access to an autoclave, but I don't think I really need it for these; standard wet layup seems to be adequate.

How much do you expect them to cost and where will you be selling them? (here on PP?)>

I don't have a firm number on cost yet, and I'll be selling them out of my garage for right now, although I imagine they'll eventually end up in the Pelican catalog.

Looks great Thom, nice work, very impressive.
Any chance you would consider making the duct on the other side of the engine for a matching pair? |

Nice work Thom. Add me to the list of buyers. Let us know when you come up with a range of what the prices will be.

Add me to the list of potential buyers as well.
On a related note... Any chance that you could make a rear fuse cover? I would be interested if the price is right.

Almost there! This one is a dud - it has some voids on the back, and I mis-trimmed it and had to patch it.

Hey Thom,
Will these allow removal of the engine blower and ducting on the 3.2, or is this strictly 930 part? I know there is a clearance problem on the 3.2 with the dizzy. If it works on a 3.2, I have one ready to try on.

I'm still working on the mold for the other side, but those are more readily available; I picked up a complete set of 2.XL engine tin on ebay last week for $75.

I'm in. I steered a friend of mine with an RSA to your 3.6 tube and his looks great. I hope the price can be kept reasonable.
