Anyone had this rust problem?
It would appear that the blower drain has become blocked and caused this

I would track hard to find leaks with white caulk mixed with water.

Was this a LHD car converted to RHD?
Blower drain or after market a/c drain? |
Yeah it's an origional RHD car imported into Australia in 1969. To me it would appear that the tube is the drain from the blower.
I've had a good stab around and it would appear that it's mainly surface rust. I'll know more when i get the pedel cluster and the rest of the carpet out today. |
Hmmm, my 78 has a plastic drain hose that runs thru the smugglers box..now that I see the car is a 69 to correct my answer to your other thread question about that green patch that is covering the hole in the bulkhead..might be for the gas heater wiring.

Looks like a job for POR 15

Classic,
My Aussie delivery RHD also suffered surface rust like this when I got it, but mine was caused by a leaking windscreen seal. Basically I just got in to it with a wire wheel and hit it with Wattyl and Killrust products... no problem for the past 3 years. Though given that POR15 is available over here, that might be a proven choice. Don't panic :) Also, rebuild your cluster whilst it is out - if it hasn't been done before, it will be due soon! |
thanks guys yeah i got the cluster out today and it's only surface rust other then the tube. I think i'll cut it off and weld in a new section, once i work out how to get the mig at the back.

I have a similar leak in my 1976 Aust compliance also. I have tried to chase it ia a weak manner. But I suspect it is not the windscreen as I have covered the air inlet below the windscreen and stopped the leak.
I have heard that the air inlet has a drain. Does anyone have a photo of where the drain for the air inlet is? regards Andrew |
