With a 91AO... VIN number, your car started as a Euro car with a speedometer marked in kilometers. If it reads in miles now, then it has been changed.

could the speedometer have been swapped by the dealer when the car was imported? In such a case they would be sure to use the 150 mph rather than the 85 mph. What do you think? Alos I have a code # from the unit and was wondering if its possible to find out the date from that.

If it were imported by a "dealer", I would suspect that they changed the speedometer. But changing the speedometer was not a requirement for a federal conversion upon importing, so it would have been a marketing decision, not a requirement. I got mine done a year later (1988) when it quit and needed repair.
