Project '72 Update #9... it runs!
Made a huge step today. Actually moved the car around the driveway under its own power. What a great feeling that is after all this time. I still have a lot to do as this just wasnt an engine swap, but a complete rebulid and refab of everything. I wanted so badly to rip up the street, but I havent got it aligned yet and my wheels are pointing in every direction. The front suspension height is close, but the rears will have to be taken apart and moved up a spline or two. In these photos the bumpers are just hanging on and not properly fitted yet, and im not going to bother until all the alignment/ride heights are done. Much easier to get on and off a lift without them on.
Enjoy! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1111788938.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1111788966.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1111788994.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1111789022.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1111789055.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1111789097.jpg |

Thats a great looking car.
congrats! |
That car looks great. Hope to get a look at it in person.
That car is sick! Congratulations.
Geez, are you trying to kill us or what! I can safely say any of us would love to have that in our garage!
b-b-b bad to the bone!
Nice! Hood vent is radical. I can't wait to see it with the stance all dialed in. That green makes guards red look staid:)
very nice!:) What sort of muffler did you end up w/ ?
Love the color great looking ride.
Oh my!
If you get that baby running as good as she looks, you're definitely going to tear up some roads!
I only hope I can have my baby looking that good... someday... |
That car is HOT!
Sweet.
Seriously nice looking car! Even if it only goes as far as the end of the driveway :) Plus a '72 has got to be one of the best cars around for that sort of project
Green with envy! Great work. Love the hood vent!
I am currently sporting tremendous wood
Wood x2
Incredible!......
WOW!
Thanks guys!!
Bill, I havent got a muffler on it yet, i just bolted up the stock convertor to get it running. I have a good friend who owns a muffler shop, and we are going to fab something either like yours using a Flowmaster or something like Mike F, using two smaller ones. |
Looks sweet, the black wheels would have looked good too. Maybe if you get a second set.
Front hood treatment looks slick.
You must be right on schedule for the spring track season! |
And I am proud to say that Marc is one of the greatest guys around. He has gone out of his way and taken time out to help me with several projects I could not tackle. He is certainly a great individual and master mechanic. The photos do not do it justice. This car is a beautiful work of ART......You should be very proud Marc.
Cannot wait to drag down Sandy Plains; although I know I will only see your tail lights!! Bob 73.5T:) |
the body, the color, the motor... awesome!
Congrads Mark, thats awesome. Beautiful car.
What a huge pile of *****!
Just thought I would shake things up a bit. That thing is incredible. I wish my projects turned out half as nice as your car. Beautiful work. |
Dude,
Awesome ride......dial it in then air it out! |
Very nice! hope you have a different tail for the track; with all the front downforce- especially the cool "can am" hood, you need a serious wing out back otherwise she will oversteer
Luvvvvvvvv that color!!!!!!!!!
Ok, got the ride height just about dialed in. Having the adjustable spring plates makes it about a 15 minute job on each side! Today its at the muffler shop.
Havent got a track tail yet, but I am. I just love the euro cup car tail. Very similiar to the 3.8 tail, but much shorter on the sides and no air scoops. |
Wow!
Green wood! Nice, no realllllyyyy nice :)
Very nice car, Snake. I love that color! What kind of shifter is that?
It has the WEVO shifter, coupler and gate shift. From the little ive driven it, (around the driveway and on the trailer), it is VERY precise to say the least. Absolutley ZERO play.
The Wevo pieces rock.
Looks like a Tilton brake bias ahead of it.....
I too am green with envy, but I won't go so far as to brag that my wood is "tremendous"! ;) |
AMAZING!
That is precisely the color I'm using on my 2.8 RSR build using a 72 body. What are the odds? I've added your photos to my ever-expanding notebook of things to do to my car. Yours is definitely one of the nicer examples I've seen. Well done! |
