Custom 2 piece wheel components or advice on having a custom set of wheels made
Wow, I can’t believe I was allowed to type a title that long.
Anyway, Lindsay Racing has done this with the 17s like on Jacks car, and rdane and Dr. Wilson have done it with 16s. So who makes custom width two piece welded 15s? Does anyone know a source for custom wheel components, like a set of 15" wheel barrels? I’m investigating the possibility of using the centers from a 15" wheel to make a custom offset 15x8 with hopes of having it fit under the rear of my narrow bodied car. I don’t want bolted centers like on the 3 piece Lindsay wheels; I want them to look somewhat stock, like the Lindsay 2 piece wheels and rdane and Mark's Quelle wheels. 2 piece Lindsay 17s ![]() Custom 16x8s - no rubbing, fit just like 7" wheels ![]() ![]() Hoping to use these centers to have a 15x8 wheel made to fit like the 16x8s above do ![]() T TIA Last edited by Shuie; 04-02-2005 at 04:36 AM.. |

Look at the 16" or 17' race wheels thread over on the racing board. Emptyo has a guy that will weld up centers to barrels.

I don't agree that the brown car has 8s that fit well, the car is up way too high in the back so that the tires won't hit the body.
the 15x7r guys start w/ a +49mm o/s and yse 10 -17mm spacers for a net o/s of 39 -32mm they also need to use other tricks to get them to fit details at the bottom Ingo got 16x8 +23.3mm Fuchs to work on his car somehow Ingos wheels

thanks guys, I appreciate the help.
Bill, thats right after it came off the jack, suspension had not settled yet. I dont know what the offset is on those 16x8s (Id guess its 45mm+, maybe ~50mm), but they have the same outboard measurement as my 15x7s. Yes, 23mm offset 16x8s will work with the right camber, but you know they never made a 23mm offset 15x8. I dont want to get away from 15" wheels on my car without at least trying to find something other than standard 7" Fuchs that will fit. I guess it would be easy enough to have someone weld an extension on the back of a standard 15x7 from a donor wheel for more inboard space. Im probably making this more difficult than it is. I think this might be the 15x8 that you're looking for, though I'm not certain of the offset.

Thanks Mark. I guess I need to re-think trying to calculate wheel offsets

Thanks again. I wish I had checked for springplate bolt clearance on those wheels when I had them. Im wondering if I could move them a little further inboard.
