Close encounter with a dump truck

Following a close encounter with a tractor trailer dump truck, Topsail Beach is getting restored. New paint, followed by new carpet and leather seats. It hurts to visit and see her in this shape. Next, the windows come out and the front fenders come off for final prep before spraying.

What a story.

The driver of the Peterbuilt "just couldn't see that I was there" and kept trying to close the distance between his truck and the car ahead in stop and roll traffic. Never mind that I was in between the two....five or six hits later with no place to go and after standing on the brakes (like I can stop a dumptruck pushing me down the highway), I finally get in his field of vision. I'm getting a new paint job and replacements for the rear bumper pads. Employers Mutual Casualty is the carrier for the dump truck driver. What a POS company--they lowballed every part of the claim.

The only good news is that I'm now motivated to to bring her back to new condition.

More to come.....

you know, I remember my dad having a brand new 944. As he was coming out of his work one day he was almost the last car in the parking lot.... besides the dump truck backing up towards his car. Almost like a movie, it just happened to back over the only thing that was there to hit (his 944) and it went right up on the back end of it. Smashed the rear end to bits... if it hadn't been a Porsche, I'm sure the insurance company would have totalled the thing.
