Finally got some 9's!

After months and months of trying to find a pair of used 9"x 16"s I gave up and bought a couple of new ones. Yup, brand new in Fuch cardboard boxes. Some will say what I did to them is a crime but I could not help myself. I took paint stripper and easyoff to em. Oh, and alot of sanding and polishing. I put them on a couple of days ago and I'm, I'm, I'm soooooo happy. I'm refinishing the 7's now and should have them on next week. New tires are ES100 205/55/16 and 245/45/16. Now I will attempt to post a pic. Dave

Looks great. Are you putting the backs on the front.

Mike,
I got one from Andrew ( fellow pelican ) and one from WE. $600 for Andrew's and $875 for WE's. Ouch! but with used pairs going for $1200 to $1500, I don't feel so bad and they are new.

Kenik,
Thanks, I'm better at polishing than posting pictures.

Considering we are both Seattle-ites, I am hoping a picture won't be the only way I see this car!

I bought mine from WE a couple months ago for $850 each. Guess the price continues to rise.

I'm actually glad you ruined yours. Makes mine more valuable.

You think WE prices are rising? I bought a pair from them maybe 8 months ago @675 each. A month before that, they were $650 each. It's like having a stock rise.

regards,

It's not really like having a stock rise. The real reason is because the U.S. dollar is on it's way to being worthless.

It's just supply and demand. The fewer available; the higher the price goes.

About 10 years ago, PCNA dumped all their stock of 944 offset 8 x 16" Fuchs for about $100 each -- maybe 400 wheels in all. that would have been a good investment.

WE told me that their stock of 9's were purchased years ago, long before the dollar started weakening. So it's not a currency conversion thing. The Fuchs factory stopped making them years ago as well, so it's just the dwindling supply.

WE advised me that every few years, they arrange for a new batch to be produced, maybe 100 or so wheels. Is that possible?
