Paint stripper recommendation
Can anyone recommend a decent paint stripper? I just bought an old Carrera tail and lid and would like to strip it all before painting.
Also, where can I buy some POR-22 (rust treatment paint, not for the tail of course)?

Try your local hot rod shop for POR products.

I stripped my front valence with Stipper from Home Depot. It was heavy duty stuff in a gallon container. Worked as well as the AC stripper aerosol. Don't use on FGlass.

I second the aircraft paint remover for metal, then treat the metal before priming. Good luck!

If you can't find Por-15 locally, you can buy it on their website. www.por15.com. I recently placed an order, and it showed up pretty quickly.

I actually got a great deal on an OEM original Carrera tail made of Metal. So, safe for all stripper it is.

Also, to increase the stripper's effectiveness, brush it on then quickly lay cling-wrap or a trash bag over the area to be covered (to prevent the stripper from evaporating). That way you will minimize the number of "coats" needed. ![]() |
