Red face is my 930 trans too short ?

Hi guys i bought this 1976 930 trans of ebay and from looking at the other pics i think it is shorter that what came stock or am I wrong

Not sure on the years in which things changed, but as part of my 6 speed installation I have been doing a bit of research into bell housing lengths. Apparently (I think when the 3.3 litre Turbot came out) they lengthened the transmission bell housing by about 28mm or so, and ended up moving the engine back in the engine bay by roughly that amount. They did this to make room for the thicker, rubber centred exploding clutch disc, albeit with penalty on weight distribution.

No you are not wrong, but one could argue that Porsche was....
