Question 1969 2.0 engine help

O.K. it looks shocking, i'm ashamed to put this photo on the web, after seeing all your pristeen cars\engines,but i'm in the process of pulling it out as i slowly gut the car.

I have a few questions

1. I keep on seeing that any car fitted with the stock air filter has a larger "trumpit" shape section then mine, and i'm starting to get a complex, what gives?

2. Where does the smaller out let on the air filter go to, i don't have any hose or idea?

The car was a sporto now fitted with a 901 but it was a sloppy job, ie. no oil temp (they just left the wire hanging) fixed!

It would appear after removing the carbs today that it still has the vac system on the rear wall and running from the left set of carbs.

3. Can\how do i blank the manifolds, or should i be searching EvilBay for new ones?

4. Whats the difference between the IDA and IDAP Webers?

The engines just going to sit on the stand, whilst i do some welding, but i wanted to rebuild the carbs when i'm home at night.

Thank you in advance.

I've seen much worse.

The trumpet doesn't make a difference, you might have more induction noise. My race car has a short trumpet, no big deal. The second outlet is for a hose that runs to the heat exchangers-- it mounts to a pipe over next to the oil filter that runs perpendicular to the edge of the engine compartment.

Don't sweat Classic, my 69 started out ratty like yours... I've kept my sporto so I can't tell you what needs to be blanked, but I have a fair idea. There are screw one-way valves on the left manifold, you can either replace the manifold with a manual version (holes untapped), or you could screw some blanking plugs in there. The vacuum reserviour can come off the the firewall - you won't need that. I might be interested in the hoses that run from the manifold...

Thanks John,

if mine turns out half as good as yours, it will be sweet.

I'm all over the place at the moment, i've rebuilt some things off the car, gutted the interior, considering my options, and gathering as much info as i can, whilst cuting out rust and welding.
