One of these nuts is not like the others

Please tell me that different nut is not a locking nut! I got the car with those wheels and nuts on them. It only has one like that on the front two wheels.

I am planning on rebuilding the brakes this Saturday, and need to be sure I can get the dang wheels off!

Yes, that is a locking nut, but the locking cover has already been removed (that is the type that uses an actual key to remove a free-spinning cover).

It will come off just like all the rest the way it is.

I'm glad to hear that. I don't need a wrench thrown in the works of my Saturday plans! Thanks for the info James!

Just get 4 more like this for each wheel...and you'll have the "long stud/open nut" racer look !!!

hehehe... I think I'll end up getting new black polished nuts and one of those teflon sockets so I don't bugger them all up. The wheels are low on my list of things to do/refurbish on this car.

hmm

I'll get more pictures when I have the wheels off of the car guys. I'd be a little pissed if they are not Fuchs, but I wouldn't make a real big deal about it. They look good.

One of the rear wheels center cap is missing, and it has the Porsche crest embossed under where it would be. I'll get pics of it this weekend.

there should just be a hole under the center cap, unless the design of the wheel changed.

Well, I'll get more details. I'll get pics of all four, front and back, this weekend.

Those wheels look exactly like my Fuchs replicas that I just replaced late last summer. Mine had cracks in them...

The "teflon" sockets quickly fail. Buy an all aluminum one. It will probably last as long as you own the car.

I went out today just to check, and the lock nuts came off fine, so that's a good sign. I won't have to drill the suckers!
