930 - What is this oil line?

A buddy is transplanting a 930 engine into his Carrera. The motor he bought came with an oil line that is not found on my engine (both are '78 930s). What is it for?

Sorry about the picture I cannot get them to upload.
This line is located below the oil breather line on the passenger's side rear engine compartment. It is a 1" hose with a large fitting on one end and what appears to be a plastic connector, like you would find on the break booster line, on the other end.
