Weltmeiter Strutbrace Fix / Modification
Thought I'd post my recent modification to a used Weltmeister strutbrace I bought from someone on the site.
When I received the brace, I cleaned and examined it and found cracks on both mounts. After reading some old posts, I realized that the strut was not being allowed to move as it was designed to due to the design of the Weltmeister mount. This first pic shows where the mounts were re-welded to reinforce the mount and fix the stress crack (thanks Rich) ![]() Next was the modification. After cutting the whole, I could hear my Dad saying "measure twice, cut once". Obviously I did not listen since the hole was not large enough to clear the strut. ![]() ![]() Since the first attempt did not get the results needed, I fired up the air compressor and die grinder and came up with this version: ![]() ![]() It was more work that I anticipated but some of that was brought on by my own errors ![]() No drivng in Denver today....12 inches of wet heavy snow on the ground with more to come ![]()
