Question Rear Sway-Bar Brackets

Any idea on how much I can expect to pay a mechanic to replace my rear sway-bar brackets?

My friendly local muffler shop re-welded my broken one for free. That "fix* has lasted 10 years so far.

I had the old ones cut off and the new upgraded brakets welded on. The total came to about $200.00.

That was at the best body shop in SLC last year.

I was quoted close to $400 (Canadian) or $325 USD for just one side (bracket). Not sure if something is wrong with this picture.

I made my own brackets from 1/4 structrual angle steel, then migged them in place, I used the factory ones for a template to drill and mount the captive nuts to the new mounts.Total cost was about $6.00.

I've paid $ 400, twice, to have mine done. Make sure you are dealing with someone that has done this mod before, or welds a big hunk of metal on there.

IF the old ones can be rewelded $50-$100. IF you need a new set - 2x-4x the price.
