First "hard" run after the rebuild, I'm pleased freakin pleased.
First "hard" run after the rebuild, thanks to the dialectic (this board), I'm very pleased.
Drove hard up and down country hills (at coservative higher RPMS) Right at 180 deg. I could tell the thermo. kicking right in. It's nice to know I tested the thermo before install. I think the tin 15% (if I remember correctly) change or cooling (Wayne's and Anderson's book) must be helping too. Those beaded lower valve cover gaskets seem to be doing the job. Hard to believe that small line bead around those gaskets. No engine leaks, no freakin leaks!!!!!!!!! Also, the nice thing I don't smell gasoline odor from the exhaust like I used to before the rebuild. The only thing I almost forgot was to look at the fuel gauge, which was almost empty! Wouln't that have been fun to be stranded after all just because out of gas. (Also it's nice to have four new CV boots, cv joints cleaned and repacked, and new main tranny seal.) Thanks everybody!!!

Good to hear that your ride is up and running. Why so much secrecy in the past posts though?

Thanks again. I'm uncertain about energy level at this time to do much of anything for awhile but to drive. Dealing with those lower valve cover gaskets for some reason was a drain (keeping an eye on the cover nuts etc.,) , I think because everything else was working and those I personally felt were holding up driving.
Thanks again Art, David, and everyone.
