I need some muffler recommendations! 911sc

I've been told there's a guy on here selling mufflers that he makes himself (mb911). Does anyone have any recommendations on his muffler or other types? I'm getting SSIs and I want a dual exhaust muffler that sounds awesome and by awesome I mean a lot better than the stock muffler. As close to a GT3 as I can get. If any of you have sound clips that would be perfect! Or if you live in Connecticut and are willing to let me come by and hear your muffler I'd be very appreciative. I'd go to some porsche club events to hear some cars but I dont know when they are or when they start. Please help!

Go with the Fabspeed Euro Pre-muffler and the GLH stainless 1 in 2 out. Don't go cheap on the cat by-pass you will not get the best sound. I addded the cone intake filter and that produces a great whined up intake sound. I like the GLH a lot, no tin resonance at all.

If I get SSIs that means no cat doesnt it? and no premuffler? well i dont need a cat anymore and i was planning on leaving it off cause emissions regulations are non-existant for cars that are 25 years old here in CT.

I have a GHL on my SC and am very pleased with it. Do a search and you'll also see that they are superb regarding customer service. I had a slight issue when I received it and GHL resolved in the most timely and polite fashion that I ever could have imagined.

GHL on my 83 SC. Awesome sound, good power increase and as Steve says, excellent customer service. my GHL had a very minor manufacturing flaw, and two days later I had a new one shipped to my door.

GHL, BECAUSE THEY RIP! THATS WHY! On a more serious note, I have their dual 3" race muffler on my 930 and I LOVE IT. Nothing works or has sounded better to me.

Just my .05 ....................................C and one more

Im not familiar with GHL but do they make a 2in 2out? What seth is looking to do is use SSI's so you would need a dual in. Seth, I have SSI's on my SC with a stock muffler and im looking for a cheap alternative. Ive been told the MB911 mufflers have a good sound but ive also heard that some have fitment issues. I know im not really stearing you in the right direction because basically im in the same boat. You are righ though, using SSI's you wont need a pre-muffler and if you have the stock CIS a cone filter wont work either

Ben's muffler seems to be the best one for the $$. People say it sounds great, and there are sound clips posted somewhere. There is no dyno data on it.

I have a Monty, but if I were buying one now, I'd save 50% and buy the mb911 one and get it dyno'd.

A search will find lots of posts. The only one to really avoid is the B&B.

The Dansk is a copy of the stock muffler - reports are that it works well.

Fabspeed seems to have pretty good reports, but apparently there have been some issues.

GHL seems + or -

Monty is well made, not heavy, and will not reduce your hp as many aftermarket ones do. It has a deep roar to it but won't destroy your hearing. I have been able to pacify the neighbors despite the general anti-car sentiment where I live (I have the cow horn dual out & dual in on a hotrodded engine).

you can either search for MB911 or find SOUK and ask if he still has the sound bites that I had sent him 4 or 5 months ago...he used to have it posted on his business website.

NOTE: that the sound bites are just revving the car up but there are 3 of the sound clips, 1 w/stock muffler and 1/w the moderate loud MB911 muffler and another w/ the "loud" muffler of MB911's...I haven't made any clips w/the car under load

But Ben's workmanship was very good and I absolutely love the sound

On a side note, I had a guy following me on his motorcycle the other day for like 5 miles,, after we pulled up to a light he pulled next to me to tell me how much he loved the sound...he didn't want to pass me cause he loved the sound so much....

Now that made my day

I have a 83SC and SSI heat exchangers with Bens 2 in 2 out "semi quiet" muffler and love 99% percent of the sound, the only part I don't like is the drone/resonance from 2000 to 2500 rpm, other than that it is sweet music.Last I knew Ben was working on some inserts for the tailpipes to tone it down a little,if he can get those to work this muffler would be perfect in my opinion. On my car the muffler fit was perfect and the welds are a thing of beauty, plus it was much lighter than stock. My wife and I went on a fun rally with the local PCA and we stopped at a designated stopping point,as I was opening my door a Boxster pulled in next to us and the women getting out of the passenger side said to me that my car sounded wonderful and if they got lost on the rally they would stop their car and listen for mine !!! I thought that was great.

I like my dansk. It is 2 in one out (80mm). It is a bit tinny at idle but boy does it scream if you go down the track at 100mph and 5500rpm next to a wall!
