How many 1969 Soft Window Targas?
I have stumbled across the fact that a 1969 911T Targa I own started out life as a Soft Rear Window model, even though it now has a hard rear window installed. I was wondering if anyone knows how many SRW Targas were built in 1969? I had heard 59, but I am not sure if that is correct.
Best regards, Jim Schrager South Bend, IN |

Very few LWB targas were built. I don't have a number. If only the car came with the parts from the conversion. If you can switch it back. The conversion is easy, locating parts is another story.

Don't know if its accurate. Read the first line of the ad.
This car was for sale a bit ago with a much lower price tag. Wow the market changes quickly.

Jim,
I have a 69S targa with a rear seat delete,....so I thought for sure it was a converted soft window targa....but unfortunately after receiving the cardex I found out the car was a hard window....they guy who ordered it wanted the heated rear window... Otherwise the cardex shows leather sport seats, special paint (metallic blue), Blaupunkt Koln, retractable seat belts, fog lights, wheel arch trim, and oh yes, limited slip! I managed to find a soft rear window assembly, and I am sorely tempted to do the the conversion.... Regards, Eric

I saw a 69 911S Soft Window Targa for sale at the Dunkels swap meet in about 1999. The owner of the car seemed to know alot about them and he said that this car was 1 of 8 built that year.
The soft window was an option in 1969 and the metal mounting pieces would be in all the 1969 targas. The Kardex would confirm. another thread about this subject: 1969 soft window targa chassis #

I'm pretty sure that that same '69E Soft Window Targa was listed on eBay at least twice a couple of years ago before selling. All in all, it looks like a nice fun car to me for street use. It wouldn't be the right car for track use, but for driving around on sunny days, I couldn't think of a better 911.

That car on E-bay is a sweety. I almost bought that but, opted out for a 3.0. Oh well....Damon said it would worth a little dough at some point.
