Feeler: 911R Plastic Door Handles

I am considering tooling up to produce reproduction 911R exterior plastic door handles. Before going through the expense and effort, I am asking these questions.

Are there any replicas already available, and if so how much do they cost?

How many people would be interested in a pair, if they were less expensive than the stock metal handles?

They would be great for:

911R replicas.

Real 911Rs (keep those precious originals safe at home, and only put them on for concourse.)

Church of Light Zealots.

I am looking for enough interest to sell 20 pair, before starting on this endeavor.

Thanks,
Mike

Yeah, I believe they're already available from TRE Motorsports (and manufactured by a Pelicanite). I don't know the pricing, though.

Yup,

I saw em over at TRE one day. They weigh nothing, but feel pretty sturdy in my hands. Didn't ask what they cost, though.

That's Mike Swanson at AR Concepts who is making them, along with the R lights, etc. They are $125 w/ pushbutton, $115 without (to install your keyed button.) They come in white or grey.

See the AR Concepts website for pics.

As Founding "Zealot" of the Church of Light (Weight)... I have to ask:

Who has weighed the stock and plastic handles and has accurate data for us?

The plastic handles weigh less than 2 ounces each!

Factory handles weigh 4 pounds for the pair, so it's almost a four pound savings.

911R door handles

Mike,
I started making the plastic door handles for the 911R around 1999 and have sold them since. One pair of prototype handles has been on Cris Huergas' 69 S since then, and are still working fine. My handles are made from rigid urethane resin in the early 911 button style, and they accept all parts used in the series handles. And Randy, they weigh 43g. each. American Way price, $100. pair, semi-finished, gray color.
