What substance attaches my 911E emblem to the engine bonnet?

Fortunately I spotted my original NLA, 9 1 1 E letter emblem starting to come off the rear bonnet.

It looks like some factory adhesive was used on the back (unlike the through attachments used for P O R S C H E on the same rear bonnet)......

Is some type of preferred adhesivse to be used for the 9 1 1 E emblem?

Thanks

My 72 911T uses through attachments (just like the P O R S C H E letters) to secure the badge. Something suggests that you might not have an original decklid if your 911E emblem is secured with adhesive. Do you have the decklid mounted licence plate lights? If not, you might have a lid from a later 911.

Even if that's the case, don't fret. You should be able to buy an emblem adhesive at your local auto parts store. (Maybe Pelican stocks it as well?) The 911sc and Carrera emblems are secured this way I believe.

This is a 1969, the license plate lights are yes under/inside the bonnet itself.

This is a gold lettered (NLA) 911E emblem.

My 69 "NLA" 911 E emblem has the prongs and is mounted through the decklid like the letters.. Yours may have been change sometime. I got lucky during my restoration. I called Stoddard's to try and get a new gold 911E emblem. They had none but gave me two other dealers to call, one in FL and one in CA. Because of the time difference I called CA first and they had one in inventory. $52 including shipping. When I got it it had a inventory sticker from 1998. They'd had it on the self for 7 years. Anyway, as been said before, any auto parts store should have some emblem adhesive.
