New 2.0 L Header System

Thanks Chris Hines! You came through, Bolted right up
Drove it around the neighborhood, much more torque and HP
Its amazing how the correct system makes this little 2.0L scream!!!!

Phew - I better start polishing my pipes! Looks good.

I would leave the car on stands and charge admission...

Is there any resonance? I notice the flaring immediately after the three-into-one manifold. Sometimes this creates a 'humming' noice at part throttle.

Regards
Tom

Once you get the car on the track, it would be great to get a sense of the sound reading (dB) compared to the previous system (which was...?) A lot of us have noise limits that we have to worry about.

This system will never pass any DB sensitive tracks
No resonation, My other system is the same, only larger diameter pipes that works with my other (2.5L) race engine
Having the larger system on my 2.0L was not working
I was losing torque and HP

Chad, Its highly polished stainless steel
Once I get a few laps in, it will change to a golden rainbow color

Plavan 04-21-2005 08:57 AM

Thats it... I'm taking my SS exhaust to Al Reed to have him polish it up

126coupe 04-21-2005 09:15 AM

Its much easier to keep clean than the porus stainless steel

randywebb 04-21-2005 10:33 AM

"golden rainbow color" -- post more pics then...

also I want a pic of the noise inspector's face...

MichiganMat 04-21-2005 10:52 AM

mmm....exhaust-porn...<drool>

Plavan 04-21-2005 10:52 AM

VARA purposely does NOT race at tracks with sound restrictions. We BAN those tracks. Sound restrictions at race tracks is just plain stupid. If more orginizations did that, maybe things would change at these tracks.
If you are stupid enough to build a multi million dollar house near Laguna Seca racetrack, thats your dumbass fault.

Tell us how you really feel ... :D

I grew up driving / racing at Lime Rock ... ALWAYS had a db limit. Makes you creative ... I guess.

BTW Nice looking exhaust.

That's the way I feel about the Newport people *****ing about the noise at John Wayne Airport. Have to cut back the throttle immediately after takeoff to not "disturb" the residents, how lame.

Nice looking exhaust though!

Ralph

EDIT: I'd love to see your car up close, but you Coto guys keep us RSM peasants outside your gates.SmileWavy

I guess having thousands of square miles of undeveloped land (aka: desert) has it's benefits. It must be nice to have the choice. To be honest I'm not aware of any tracks in the northeast which don't have sound restrictions. Many have limited days with little or no restrictions, with the rest of the calender restricted.

The memorial day vintage thing at Lime Rock is open exhaust.

Minkoff, I see you have turbo valve covers, did you use later model cam boxes?

126coupe 04-21-2005 05:01 PM

John,

Not sure of the year, but they still accept the 3 bearing camshafts

TimT 04-21-2005 05:53 PM

Watkins Glen and Pocono have no Db limit most of the rest of the NE tracks do have some sort of regs
