So these help stiffen the rear suspension? Cause less flex? Or is it a safety thing? I guess im not sure on the exact reason for the support.

OK boys. '73 coupe narrow body with bilstein coil over shocks .ERP spring plates and ERP cup fount end. I'm getting mix advice. One school says no problem maybe just some reinforcement on the rear shock towers but not that important. Others say only a full roll cage will make the car handle correctly. I have read that a guy named 'Porsche Doc' has a plan for reinforced rear shock towers. Some have told me to go backwards and reinstall my torsion bar set up and sell me new ERP components.Stating my car will never be a streetable. Well I don't want to go backwards. Being able to adjust ride height and change spring rate seems to me important if you want a good street ride and the ability to change when ever you want. Not having to mess with torsion bars and the trouble that brings. I'm using 16x7 2225x16x50 all around but got a super deal on a set of twists 18x11 and 18x9. Now I have long lug studs and 1 inch spares. I have not driven the car with the wheels and they do hang out the side of the wheel well but damn "it looks so cool"
What are you guys running. There are many opinions about roll cage requirement, or at the very least rear shock tower reinforcement. Does anyone have a link to 'Porsche Doc' or even pics. for you solution. Looking for a solution ,even if it might mean running a full roll cage (not really my choice)

captainrb, look back on this thread and you'll see his work. click on the little envelope beside his name and you can send him a pm.
Been speaking to KNIGHTRACE (William) about this recently. he's installed lots and lots of coil over setups on street cars without extra reinforcement. He is of the view that its not required on street cars.
