RSR - Shock Tower reinforcements
I believe the rear shock towers on the RSR have some reinforcement plates, triangular in shape.
Does anyone have a picture of the triangular piece, or an RSR rear shock tower in the engine compartment ?

Here's a few pics of the way I did it...
I also re-inforced where the rear cross-member met the frame, it was cracking a bit even BEFORE the coil-overs... ![]() ![]() ![]()

There is an old thread on this too. I asked Tyson if it was a good idea for a street car and he said not important. Not sure what else is on that thread...

Here's a few pics of the reinforcements on my RSR clone project. I believe these are an accurate replication of the orignal gussets.

Auto Associates does really nice work. Shaun 84 comes in a close second.

Tom Butler, and TRE have what appears to me as the closet to the original factory gusseting to keep the towers from flexing or walking. Damn, I love that car Tom ! Doug

Toms are the closest to the orginals.
If he'd put in the 12ga boxing it would be correct. Looks great though! ![]()

Excellent work
Thank you all for the pointers. Amazed by the the overnight response when I came in this morning. Agree with Jack, Don's version with the box metal bar between the towers looks so rigid. My 911 is purely streetcar so the rollcage versions will have to wait until I get hooked on racing these stallions.
Slan.

Come to think of it....
The rubber mounts for the top of the shocks will allow some movement. So making the towers stronger will not improve the first increment of flex. You'd need a way to tie the top of the shocks in but without transmitting all the vibration to the body. Make sense?
