Alright guys, I have searched high and low for good detailed answers on how to install the Weltmeister Poly-Graphite bushings onto my A-arms. I've had no luck.
I've got four bushings ready to go onto the A-arms and have heard that the bushings can be a pain to install, however, when I test fit them onto my A-arms they just slide right on. They're not too big or too small. Am I missing something here? A couple of guys have mentioned that they had no problems with the install but I just want to be sure I'm not overlooking anything. Thanks guys. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. |

Are you certain that you NEED new A-arm bushings?
Apparently, many figure that since the rear swing-arm bushings are mushed, that the fronts must be the same. (usually not the case)

Yea. My fronts are a little out of round but not as bad as the rears. I figure while I've got every single little piece of the front suspension out of the car I may as well replace the bushings. They are most likely the original 21 year old bushings that came with the car.

I'd bet they are hard as rock if not mushed and/or crumbled...

Do they slide on the A-arms and also fit the front and rear housings? If they do, consider yourself lucky. Generally, they will bind on the inner or outer dimensions, either not allowing the arm to be placed, or binding with force in the housings. This will cause squeaking and other unwanted noises. When fitted properly, they should gently move with little force and no play.

Well, I've taken off the old bushings and cleaned the inner and outer surfaces. I then slipped the bushings easily into the sleeves and then slipped the bushing/sleeve combos onto the A-arms. A couple were pretty tight and a couple were snug. I'd say all of them could be pushed onto the A-arms without too much trouble as is.
Would any of you use a grease on the bushings to help them slide in? |
