How To Remove Alarm?
The PO had a aftermarket alarm installed, but it was disconnected when I bought it. I have read too many horror stories of how the wiring can mess with your electrics.
Anyone have advice on how to safely disconnect the wiring? (The yellow and white/purple combo on the left don't go to anything.) ![]()

One of my previous cars had an aftermarket alarm fitted. These things are often relatively simple.
The central unit had a ground and 12v cable. One cable to a siren, two running to the ignition switch (one existing ignition cable was cut and one end connected to one of these two wires and the other one to the other end, creating a cutoff mechanism). Then there were wires running to all kinds of sensors; door sensors in each door, a trunk and hood sensor and the movement sensors. First I unscrewed the siren and made sure I had a bucket of water around. Then I disconnected it from the central unit and it started going off at this point. Since I didn't need it anymore (and didn't want to wait for the internal battery to run out) I threw it in the bucket of water. Next I cut all the sensor wires close to the sensor and left them in place. But if you want you can completely remove them. Then I went to the ignition switch and reconnected the original wire (this was very obvious when following the two cables from the central unit to the ignition switch). Next I just disconnected the ground and 12v cable. Finally I threw the whole thing out of my car. I don't know if all of this is applicable to your unit, maybe you don't have the sensors. All I know is that most simple after market alarm systems are easy to remove. And it didn't have any negative effect on the existing electric system in the car. Good luck, Michiel |

I took mine to a local "high end" car audio shop and they removed the alarm completely for $30. The best $30 I've ever spent!

Just follow the wires. You can tell what's factory and what came with the alarm. I only had to make one connection in my harness while taking mine out. I ended up with an entire box full of bits and pieces.

I initially decided to just snip them short, wrap and forget, but I would still know they were there.
I followed the wires under the carpet, behind the console, up into the passenger side dash, back across the car to the drivers door. Removed over 12' of wire, 9 wire nuts and several inline fuses. This was NOT a professional install! I never did find the siren, must have been taken out at the same time as the door sensors. Thanks everyone for the advice.
