Perfect Engine for Swap Candidates

All this talk of 3.6 swapping has me combing ebay from time to time just to see what's out there. Instead, i stumbled upon this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7960187271&category=33615

Makes you say hmmmmmmm. Having driven a 993tt extensively, i can only imagine what that would do in my G-50 3.2 Carrera narrowbody.

You would need a pilot's license.

He's got 100% positive feedback. Wonder what the final price will be?

Didn't see the computer in any of those (3) pix..
Very slim description.
This guys mainly been doing coins & baseball cards, now switches to Porsche engines?

Caveat emptor.

I remember last year some time there were a couple stolen ebay accounts that posted the same or similar auction. The wording of the post is exactly the same, "I am a fan of porsche and have collected a number of engines ( 3 available for now)". I would say the chances of this being legit are slim to none.

If I were interested I would email the seller & mention that a friend happened to be in the area & ask if its ok for him to take a quick look.

I would predict no reply.

The guy's supposedly only 40 or so miles from New Orleans. Maybe a local Pelican can offer to go eyeball it. It the seller refuses, something's fishy.

i smell something fishy too, but i thought i would link anyways. ifs its legit, i too wonder what the final price will be. I'm not an avid E-bay user so i didn't even think to check out the stats on the seller.

Scam or not, that's a headache of a motor to swap into an early car. I looked into it, way back when, and (even then) it appeared to be more cost-effective to buy a used 993TT and cut its weight.

Abita Spring, LA is about 30 minutes from my house. I'm thinking of dropping by to see these amazing low price turbo motors in person.

Hey, shipping to CA is only $6.18 in his auction.

Seems super-sketchy. The engine is listed as sold on the dismantlers website, but why would anyone buy it for ~$23k only to list on ebay for no reserve?

Look forward to do business with you.

Regards,
bigbandsinger*neworleans

I responded with the following:

Great - please give me your address and telephone number. I have a friend and fellow porsche enthusiast that can look at these for me and is local to you.

Jeremy Dixon

His response

Jeremy,

Unfortunatelly I am not at the store right now as I have left for Europe on an urgent business trip. That is why I have already payed for shipping of motors and the engines are located at the shipping company's store ready to be shipped. That is why the only thing I need to do to iniciate the delivery is to give them buyer's shipping details.
Hope this is ok with you.

Regards,
Edward

==============================================

I've alerted the ebay police - what do you bet the bank account is in europe to... Sure, I'll ship those engines right to you...

Can anybody decipher the header info?
